These are 2022–2023 model year Dusters: slightly older than our standard fleet, but maintained, inspected, and serviced to exactly the same standard as every other vehicle we operate. The trade-off is simple — a lower daily rental rate in exchange for a vehicle that has more kilometres on it. The capability is identical.

For travellers who want genuine F-road access, proven AWD performance, and the lowest possible daily rate — and who don’t need the newest model year to enjoy Iceland — this is the most cost-efficient 4×4 in our fleet.

Is the Older Dacia Duster Good for Driving in Iceland?

Yes — the 2022–2023 Duster is the same proven 4×4 platform as our newer fleet, with the same F-road capability and year-round performance.

• Real-World Space: Identical to the newer Duster — 3 large suitcases in the boot with seats up, flat-folding rear seats for over 1,600 litres of load space when needed.
• F-Road Capability: Same AWD system with Lock mode, same ground clearance, same hill descent control. Permitted on F-roads including Landmannalaugar and Þórsmörk routes (summer only, check road.is).
• Winter Performance: AWD with season-appropriate winter tyres — confident on the Ring Road, South Coast, and Golden Circle in winter conditions.

• Winter (October–April): Ring Road and main paved routes with winter tyres. F-roads closed in winter regardless of vehicle.
• Shoulder Season (May, September): Main roads fully accessible. Some F-roads open late May — check road.is.

    This category is rented on an “or similar” basis. If the older Duster is unavailable, you’ll receive a comparable AWD 4×4 — or you may be upgraded to the newer Duster fleet at no additional cost. You will not be downgraded in capability.

    The 2022–2023 Duster and the newer fleet Duster are the same vehicle platform with the same AWD capability and F-road access.
