All cargo van rentals are collected from a single dedicated location: our Hafnarfjörður branch at Selhella 5. This is not available at Keflavík Airport, Reykjavík Downtown, or any of our other stations — cargo vans are a Hafnarfjörður-only service.

• 24-hour minimum rental. Cargo vans are not available for a few hours or a half-day — every booking is a minimum of 24 hours, with 100 km included.
• Rates include unlimited mileage beyond the included 100 km, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), and VAT. No hidden fees on the base rate.
• Hafnarfjörður pickup only. Plan your route to Selhella 5 into your moving day timeline.
• No F-roads, ever. None of our cargo vans are permitted on Highland tracks, regardless of load or destination — if you’re moving items to a summer house or remote location, confirm your route stays on paved or standard gravel roads.

Driving a Cargo Van in Iceland

A loaded cargo van, especially our larger sizes, handles differently from a normal car — particularly in Iceland’s strong winds. Crosswinds on open stretches like Reykjanesbraut can genuinely affect a tall, boxy vehicle more than a standard car, so if your move involves driving between towns, check the forecast before you go and drive cautiously in gusty conditions.

For securing your load: pack heavier items low and toward the front of the cargo area, use straps or rope where possible to stop furniture shifting in transit, and avoid stacking boxes higher than the tie-down points. A load that shifts mid-drive is both a safety risk and the most common cause of damage during a move.

Cargo Van Rental Requirements

• A valid driver’s licence held for at least 1 year is required for the VW Caddy Cargo, Ford Transit Custom Cargo, and Ford Transit Cargo.
• The Ford Transit S/CAB Cargo Box requires a special driving licence — bring this with you at pickup, as standard licences are not accepted for this vehicle.
• If your licence is not in the Roman alphabet, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required alongside your original licence.
• A credit card in the main driver’s name is required for payment and deposit.
• CDW insurance is included as standard, covering the vehicle. Cargo — your furniture and belongings — is not covered by vehicle insurance; secure your load carefully and consider your own contents insurance for high-value items.

  For a studio or 1-bedroom, the Ford Transit Custom Cargo (6.0 m³) is usually enough. For a 2–3 bedroom apartment or full house move, the Ford Transit Cargo (11.14 m³) or Transit S/CAB Cargo Box (21.2 m³) will give you more comfortable room.

• Where do I pick up a cargo van in Iceland?

  All cargo van rentals are collected exclusively from our Hafnarfjörður branch at Selhella 5. This service is not available at Keflavík Airport or our other city locations.

• Do I need a special licence to rent a cargo van?
