We make every effort to fulfill requests for multi-month rentals as quickly as possible. Turnaround typically take 1-5 days, depending on availability. Turnaround may be shorter, determined mainly by the vehicle’s location among other factors.
Hertz Multi-Month offices are at Selhella 5 in Hafnarfjörður, but the vehicles are picked up at Flugvallavegur 5, 101 Reykjavík. Vehicles may be picked up from other Hertz locations, but bear in mind that this may delay delivery of the vehicle.
Multi-Month vehicles are typically returned at the end of the calendar month. To return the vehicle outside of the agreed on time, please contact a Hertz Multi-Month representative at +354 858 0456 or vidskiptastjori@hertz.is.
The client may be able to return the vehicle before the end of the contract period if certain conditions are met, which are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
An individual must be at least 20 years old to rent a vehicle from Hertz.
Passenger vehicles: 20 years
SUVs and other larger vehicles: 23 years
Payment must be made by credit card. When the multi-month vehicle is picked up, the card is charged for a full month at the beginning of the rental period, and subsequently on the 4th of each month.
The renter may opt for the vehicle to be delivered with standard winter tires or studded tires. If the renter changes his or her mind during the rental period, the tires may be changed for service fee of ISK 11,000. This fee does not apply to seasonal tire changes.

The vehicle must undergo regular oil changes every 10 to 30 thousand kilometers, depending on the model. The mileage for the next oil change can be found on the sticker on the left side of the windshield. The renter is responsible for bringing the vehicle in for oil changes and service inspections as needed. Appointment is necessary for all services and can be made here. All multi-month renters with a 12-36 month contract receive a free car wash once a month, available at Hertz locations on weekdays, 08:00 – 16:00. Please note that the Hertz location at Keflavík Airport does not offer a free car wash. Appointment is necessary for all services and can be made here. The renter waits while service is performed.

Fuel is not included in the rental price. The vehicle must be returned with a full tank at the end of the rental period.

There is no need to register or pay for additional drivers in multi-month rentals.
There is no minimum age for additional drivers. However, drivers holding only a provisional license (e.g., learner’s permit) may not drive multi-month vehicles from Hertz.
If the vehicle is damaged, Hertz must be notified as soon as possible. All damage must be reported and processed by the damage claims department at Hertz. Any damage to the multi-month rental must be reported to accident@hertz.is.
Multi-month rental vehicles are typically 15-24 months old. Hertz also offers newer and older vehicles for multi-month rental. The rental fee reflects the age of the vehicle.
Any distance driven over the kilometer allowance is settled at the end of the rental period. However, the renter is prompted regularly to report the vehicle’s current mileage through hertz.is/kilometrar if the overage becomes excessive, the renter is given the option to update the general rental rate instead of paying for the overage.
If the renter wishes to increase the monthly kilometer allowance, the vehicle must be brought to a Hertz location to record the mileage and sign a new contract. The kilometer allowance has already been exceeded, the renter must pay for the overage before a new contract may be drawn up. Please confer with Hertz at vidskiptastjori@hertz.is before coming in with the vehicle for a new contract.
